I began training in 1981 after a friend told me about the CHA-3 Kenpo Karate classes being taught as part of the adult education program in Havre, Montana.  I had always wanted to learn the martial arts, and these classes presented the best opportunity for me to train.  I trained very diligently, and attended classes as often as possible even traveling as far as 240 miles round trip to train in order to achieve my black belt in 1988 under Chief Frank Brien in Havre, Montana.  That same year with Professor Marino Tiwanak's blessing I opened the second CHA-3 Kenpo Karate school in Montana in Great Falls, and I have been teaching here ever since.  I have risen through the ranks, and with the blessing of Professor Mike Tiwanak, and the CHA-3 Board, I was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief Instructor in 2000 with the rating of 5th dan.  I have also been an academic self defense instructor at the University of Great Falls since 1993, and the co-commissioner for the Karate event at the Big Sky State Games since 2002.

I have had the great fortune to travel to Hawaii on numerous occasions to not only update my training, but also to experience the great family atmosphere of the CHA-3 Brotherhood Association.  During these times, I was able to meet and train with our Founder Professor Marino Tiwanak, Professor Mike Tiwanak, and numerous Chief Instructors.  These memories will be held very special since I have family ties to many of the CHA-3 members as well as the opportunity to experience first hand instruction under the Late Professor Marino Tiwanak, and the Late Chief Instructor Jack Pearce.
